Aims and Scope

The mission of the Alabama Journal of Mathematics (AJM) is to stimulate and improve the level of mathematics interest, cognizance, and creativity of the whole mathematics and mathematics education community at all levels. The AJM is a peer-reviewed freely accessible electronic mathematical journal for the publication of high quality papers in all areas of pure and applied mathematics, history of mathematics, and mathematics education.

As such, the journal has multiple sections in each volume including mathematics, history of mathematics, mathematics education, student research, problems and solutions, and book reviews. Papers in the Student Research Section of the AJM should have a minimum of one-third student authorship. Faculty co-authorship is not required, but the submission of a student research paper should be accompanied by a cover letter from a faculty member who served as an advisor for the research of the paper. In addition to research articles, the AJM will also publish well-written expository/survey articles that make important developments in the above fields more widely accessible. The focus of the journal is not fundamental research, but rather papers that are appealing to a large mathematical audience, including teachers and students at secondary schools, colleges, and universities.

All papers are refereed by at least two experts for correctness and suitability for publication. Clarity of exposition, accuracy of details as well as the relevance and interest of the subject matter will be decisive for the acceptance of an article. Papers are published in English only and will be freely downloadable in pdf format from the journal’s website.
